Magic Kingdom is CLASSIC Disney and is
perfect for families with young children. At Magic Kingdom you will
enter the magical worlds that Walt Disney created years ago. Walk
down Main Street and see the magnificent Cinderella Castle. Continue
through the park and explore the many “lands” that the park has to
offer.
Looking for adventure? Head to
Adventureland where you can explore the jungle on the Jungle Cruise
and even come face-to-face with Jack Sparrow on Pirates of the
Caribbean. Take a blast into the past in Frontierland where you will
be put back in to the times of the Wild Wild West! Ride Big Thunder
Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, and explore Tom Sawyer’s Island.
Then, head to Liberty Square to face your fear of ghosts, in the
Haunted Mansion. Then, take a peek into the future in Tomorrowland,
where you can explore the future of tomorrow on Space Mountain and
laugh until it hurts at the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor. Kids will
love Mickey’s Toontown Fair and Fantasyland, where they can meet and
mingle with their favorite Disney characters. Dreams really do come
true at this park!
Must See Magic Kingdom Attractions
While there are many great attractions at the
Magic Kingdom, here are some of the highlights:
- It’s a Small World – a fantastic journey
through the many nations that make up this world. And you can’t
forget the song that made it all famous; it’s a world of laughter a
world of tears…
- Mickey’s Toontown Fair – enjoy a great
miniature village of Mickey and Minnie’s home. This area is
great
for small children
- Pirates of the Caribbean – Quite simply,
this is one of the very best of the Magic kingdom's classic
adventures. The beloved ten-minute cruise is a Disneyland original,
added to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom due to popular demand.
- Splash Mountain – In this guaranteed
smile inducer, guests enjoy a waterborne journey through brightly
colored swamps and bayous, and down waterfalls, and are finally
hurtled from the peak of the mountain to a briar-laced pond five
stories below.
- The Haunted Mansion – This eight-minute
experience is among the Magic Kingdom's most enjoyable. This haunted
house steers clear of anything too terrifying, and a good-spirited
voice-over keeps the mood light.
- Mickey's Philharmagic – Mickey and his
pals (including Donald, Simba, and Ariel) strut their musical stuff
in this ear- and eye-popping 3-D production.
- Space Mountain – This attraction, which
blasted onto the Magic Kingdom scene in 1975, is a can't miss crowd
pleaser for throngs of thrill seekers. Rising to a height of more
than 180 feet, this gleaming steel and concrete cone houses an
impressive roller coaster.
Don't
Miss - Wishes Nighttime Spectacular
"Wishes" Exploding with vivid color, sound and gut
wrenching emotion, "Wishes" is the largest fireworks display ever
presented at Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom.
The night time spectacular is narrated by the voice of Jiminy
Cricket and the Blue Fairy. Guests of Walt Disney Worlds Magic
Kingdom are told a thrilling "story in the sky" featuring hundreds
of brilliant pyrotechnic effects exploding above and around
Cinderella Castle.
"Wishes" is roughly five minutes longer and
several times larger than the long running fireworks show "Fantasy
in the Sky", which was previously being shown at the Magic Kingdom.
SpectroMagic
Parade
"SpectroMagic" began its second run at the
MAGIC
KINGDOM, replacing the "Main Street Electrical Parade" which ended
its second run on April 1, 2001.
This parade features Disney characters in sparkling detail, flowing
fiber optics, holographic images and old-fashioned twinkle lights.
Be sure to check for show times.
Park Facts
- Magic Kingdom sits on 107 acres with the
towering Cinderella Castle at its center. Similar to Disneyland in
California, the park is divided into seven themed lands - Main
Street U.S.A.; Adventureland; Frontierland; Liberty Square;
Fantasyland; Mickey's Toontown Fair; and Tomorrowland.
- Cinderella Castle, the park's icon, stands
189 feet tall and includes 18 towers. Inside its main hall, five
glittering mosaics created under the direction of Dorothea Redmond
and Hanns-Joachim Scharff tell the story of Cinderella in 500
brilliant hues of glass.
- Walt's dream was realized when Magic Kingdom,
the first of four theme parks at the sprawling Florida site, opened
Oct. 1, 1971. Walt's older brother and lifelong business partner,
Roy O. Disney, inaugurated the park with a heartfelt dedication that
remains today on a bronze plaque in Main Street, U.S.A.:
