Disney's Blizzard Beach
Water Park

With the snow covered Mt. Gushmore as its centerpiece this outrageous and fun theme is continued throughout the park. Guests will find ski jumps, toboggan rides and slalom runs that all have been turned into water slides. At the base of Mt. Gushmore all the melting snow has formed a lagoon that serves as the parks wave pool.

Located near Disney's All-Star Resorts. Guests may take Walt Disney World buses from various locations throughout Walt Disney World. If driving, exit I-4 at Magic Kingdom, exit, and follow the signs.

Disney Blizzard Beach Water Park Pic

As legend has it, Blizzard Beach was created by a freak winter storm that dropped snow over the western side of the Walt Disney World Resort. Temperatures soared, and as water began to cascade down Mt. Gushmore, the first ski resort / water adventure park was born!

Bobsledding down the snowy slopes of Mt. Gushmore or plunging straight down Summit Plummet at 60 mph will give you the spine-chilling thrills of a northern ski resort. But the Blizzard Beach water adventure park is pure tropical fun in the sun.

Attractions at Blizzard Beach

  • Teamboat Springs - The world's longest family whitewater raft ride takes three- to five-passenger rafts down a twisting, 1,200-foot series of rushing waterfalls.

  • Toboggan Racer - An eight-lane water slide that sends Guests racing over exhilarating dips as they descend the "snow" slope.

  • Downhill Double Dipper - The world's only side-by-side racing slides allow passengers to travel at speeds of up to 25 mph in this thrilling water adventure.

  • Snow Stormers - Three flumes descend from the top of the mountain and follow a switchback course through ski-type slalom gates.

  • Runoff Rapids - An inner-tube run, where Guests careen down twisting, turning flumes. Two open slides and one enclosed "black hole."

  • Chair Lift - Wooden-bench chair lifts sporting colorful overhead umbrellas and snow skis on their underside, converted from ski-resort to beach-resort use. These functional chairs carry Guests over the craggy face of Mt. Gushmore, from its base at the beach to its summit. No infants may ride.

  • Tike's Peak - A kid-size version of Mt. Gushmore, including scaled-down attractions. In addition, this area features a snow-castle fountain play area and pop jets.

  • Melt-Away-Bay - A one-acre bobbing wave pool, nestled against the base of Mt. Gushmore, that is constantly fed by "melting snow" waterfalls.

  • Cross Country Creek - A lazy creek circling the entire park, carrying floating Guests through a bone-chilling ice cave. Once inside the mysterious cave, Guests are splashed with the "melting" ice from overhead.

  • Blizzard Beach Ski Patrol Training Camp - Designed for pre-teens with inner-tube slides, a T-bar, culvert slide, and a challenging ice-floe walk along slippery, floating icebergs.

  • The Village - At the east end of the beach, the Village is your Guest Services location for locker and towel rental, and first aid. Within the Village is the Beach Haus, a specialty shop offering souvenirs, towels, bathing suits, sunglasses, and other essentials for a day on the slopes!

Don't Miss - Summit Plummet

Summit Plummet - At 120 feet high, it's the world's tallest, fastest free-fall speed slide, a breathtaking 60 mph plunge straight down to a splash landing at the base of the mountain. Visible from almost anywhere in the park.

Summit Plummet lies atop Mount Gushmore in the heart of Disney’s Blizzard Beach – between Slush Gusher and Teamboat Springs. To reach Summit Plummet, take the Chairlift or the stairs.

Height Requirement: You must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Summit Plummet. Check the health restrictions posted at the entrance to the waterslide.

The Travel Channel voted Blizzard Beach the number 2
water park in the whole of the USA (the number 1 water
park was the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Texas)

*** Additional Water Park Info ***

Don't forget your sunscreen! Measure your child's height before you arrive at the Park so you know which attractions he or she is able to ride. All height requirements are listed on this Web site. Many Disney Cast Members are fluent in more than one language. The flags on their nametags indicate which languages they speak.

Study a map of the Park prior to your arrival to become familiar with the location of the attractions that interest you most. We recommend wearing one-piece swimsuits on the more thrilling attractions, including Humunga Kowabunga at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Summit Plummet at Disney's Blizzard Beach. In addition, swim attire with rivets, buckles or exposed metal is not permitted on the attractions. Lockers, towels and life vests for children are available for rent. Life vests are provided free of charge for Guests who wish to leave an identification card.

Arrive early if you wish to secure a lounge chair. Disney's Water Parks have quick service restaurants and snack stands with a variety of offerings. There are also picnic areas where you may enjoy your own food, however, please note that no alcoholic beverages or glass containers are permitted. Disney's Blizzard Beach is home to Summit Plummet, the tallest water slide in the whole U.S.A. Parking and inner tube usage are included with admission in each Water Park.

When arriving at the Parks, start at the back of the Park and make your way to the front, since the Parks tend to fill up faster in the front. Tired of zipping down water slides? Both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have "lazy rivers" that circle the entire Park. Hop in and relax! Bring water shoes when visiting the Water Parks. The ground can get hot and so will your feet! During the busy summer months, the best time to visit a Disney Water Park is after 3 p.m. Look for locker, towel and life jacket rental at Snowless Joe's, to the right after you enter.

Both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are closed for refurbishment each year for a couple of months during the winter but never at the same time so one park or the other is always open.
